Broadcast Innovation Day Manila

Welcome to a full day of exploring the latest technology and most innovative solutions in Broadcast Technology.

Join us for a mix of hands on demonstrations and presentations throughout the day. Learn about the latest trends that will define the future. Brought to you by some of the technology leaders on the market.

The rise of 4K and IP in live broadcasting IP and 4K are the most talked topics in broadcast since years and there is high pressure on broadcasters to produce 4K content. Since remote productions, IP-solutions and 4K are only emerging within the broadcast industry, this causes production companies and networks to be cautious about the future. We will show the latest trends in OB design, incorporating 4K and IP. 4K versions of our Streamline OB Vans prove that 4K in OBs has arrived. They are pre-engineered and nearly “off-the-shelf” vehicles that come in five different versions and are delivered in a very short time. 4K has special impact on multichannel replay servers, because of its need for bandwidth. Multichannel recording and replay server specialist slomo.tv spreads the boundaries with a new generation of servers. We will explain the slomo.tv approach and show the latest replay technology with hands-on demonstrations. Broadcast-Solutions is a technology leading German system integrator and technology provider, active in the fields of Outside Broadcasting, Broadcast Facilities, security and surveillance as well as sport venues. Further products to show will be the Robycam products, a series of gyro stabilized camera heads, used on cranes, railcams or in cable camera systems for smooth and impressive 3D footage.

Audio over IP (AoIP) has been developing since the mid-nineties, with proprietary standards such as Cobranet enabling audio distribution over large facilities. Since those humble beginnings, AoIP has advanced dramatically, with most manufacturers offering some form of AoIP integration. AoIP is seen as stable enough to act as the connection between console and stage box, as well as forming a part of the show-critical intercom system. This mini-seminar will examine the current popular methods of AoIP, including a short introduction to the OSI model for IP transport.

In broadcast studios, post production and editing facilities, operators need access to a wide range of content management and editing tools, each requiring a dedicated computer and workstation, leading to fixed and inefficient layout and restricted access to facilities. In outside broadcast vehicles, space and power consumption are limited. Congestion within the vans and availability of equipment adds to operator frustration and limitation in operational capability. Integrators and operators welcome methods of dealing with these problems. A solution that is becoming very popular is to install a universal KVM matrix switch to provide highly flexible, virtually unlimited access to each computer, or computer-based system, from every operator workstation. The presentation by IHSE and associated demonstrations will highlight the benefits and advantages of KVM switches in outside broadcast vehicles, studios and post-production and editing facilities, and provide an introduction to their capabilities.
