Broadcast Innovation Day in Bingen with top-class visitors from all around the world

This years’ Broadcast Innovation Day in Bingen saw the biggest number of visitors and exhibitors for the event ever. With high-quality exhibitors, panellists and visitors joining Broadcast Solutions on that day, the event was the place to be for people active in the broadcast business.

With our production hall packed with more than ten OB Vans in all sizes (from a Streamline S12 for EKSTRAKLASA LIVEPARK in Poland to a tailor-made 30 camera OB Van for sports channel Al-Kass in Qatar) visitors could see first-hand how Broadcast Solutions plans and builds outside broadcasting vehicles. Further highlights included a Satcom on the Move live demo, the Robycam cable camera system and the first compact 4K slow-motion server from slomo.tv, amongst others.

During the event, more than 20 leading companies presented their latest innovations in a vibrant and crowded exhibitor area. With a large variety of industry partners showing their solutions and products, the exhibition area served as one of the prominent information and networking locations through the day. With lectures and panel discussions the day offered insights into hot topics like 4K and IP from senior professionals that shared their ideas with the audience.

Arthur Koll, Sales Engineer Broadcast at Yamaha comments: “At this event we meet partners which come from all over the world. You probably meet them at IBC but this event has a cosier environment. You can make close contact, better than on a big trade show. It is a very important event for us and we will take part the next time, for sure. The discussions and the conversations and the things you can talk over with partners here are more intimate.”

And Heiko Mildenberger, Account Manager Pro AV at Sennheiser, adds, “We are here to meet international customers – and that was the case. So we are very satisfied with the event. Our customers are often customers of Broadcast Solutions as well, thus using a lot of synergies.”

Special highlights of the day were the two panel discussions with CEOs, CTOs and technology specialists discussing vibrantly their ideas of future technologies like the path to IP, 4K and HDR in reality and how they will affect the broadcast business. With presentations on studio and stadium projects Broadcast Solutions engineers informed about landmark projects the company realised in broadcast facilities and in planning and implementing multimedia infrastructure for sport arenas.

Further highlights for visitors were presented at the outdoor area, where a Robycam cable camera system was used in live mode flying over the heads of the visitors presenting spectacular images.

As a world premier visitors had the chance to see the new “BlackJack”, a 3 in 2 out 4K 50p server from slomo.tv – the only 4K system available today that works stand alone, not requiring networking of several servers, all this in just 4 RU. This server can also be used for recording of up to 16 channels in 3G. Or with 3 operators working with up to 4 channels each, simultaneously!

Another first was the Satcom On The Move demonstrations throughout the day where visitors could join the transmitting vehicle on the streets of Bingen or see the result at the receiving side. For the first time in Europe, 4.5 Mb HD quality video was transmitted while driving. The transmission was a standard SNG setup and received on location with a receive dish as small as 1.5 meter.
